Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How do I contact someone admitted to an inpatient unit?
A. Call 407-875-3700, follow prompts by pressing option 2, then option 3. If the client is at Lakeside, a message will be delivered as soon as possible. Please keep in mind that the client may choose whether or not he or she will return the phone call.

 

Q. How do I get an assessment and what do I need to bring with me?
A. We are open from 8 am - 4 pm for non-crisis assessments. We operate on a walk-in basis and do not make appointments. Bring any current medications and insurance information.

 

Q. Will I get medications the day I have my assessment?
A. No. You will be referred to Lakeside's Medication Clinic for an appointment.

 

 

Q. Can I get a psychiatric/psychological assessment for court?
A. No. We offer mental health assessments that may or may not be accepted in court.

 

 

Q. Can family members or friends of clients who are on an inpatient unit bring in food, soda or cigarettes?
A. No. All clients are given a balanced diet through our Food Services Department. Clients requesting menu alternatives or require special diets must have a dietary consultation that begins with a physician's order and is then phoned into our dietary department. A Registered Dietitian will see the client and coordinate a diet plan.

 

 

Q. What is the Entitlement Department?
A. This department assists Lakeside clients apply for Social Security benefits such as Supplemental Security Income (SSI), which is a supplement for people who have no work history, and Social Security Disability (SSDI), which is based on work history. The Entitlement Department also assists with the approval and/or denial process which is an additional benefit for our clients.

 

Q. What is a Baker Act?
A. The Florida law covering both voluntary and involuntary treatment is Chapter 394 of Florida Statutes known as the Florida Mental Health Act or the Baker Act. The Act is named after former State Representative Maxine Baker who sponsored the Act passed into law by the Florida Legislature in 1971.

 

 

 

The Access Center is the central point for admission to all Lakeside programs.
